Why do we procrastinate and repeat lazy behaviors?
I myself was seriously troubled by this issue before, and I was able to break free from this bad habit pattern by meditating and reflecting on my mind.
In fact, the first thing you should do before trying to fix this habit is to find out what is causing the laziness. There are three main reasons I found.
First, you have too many thoughts.
Of course, we have to think before we act. But if you think too much, your body becomes heavy. You run out of time when you are trapped in your head and only running the simulation. When you see successful people, they never hesitate or procrastinate in taking action. You need to look inside your mind when you find yourself unable to ‘just do it’. What kind of thoughts are holding you back? Do they obstruct progress?
Second, you have a strong desire to be perfect.
Research shows that most procrastinators aren’t really lazy, they’re the closest to perfectionists. The higher the standard for perfection, the more difficult to achieve it seems. There are some who believe that if it doesn’t work out, it is best to just not even start. In the end, you just work hard in your head and you can’t achieve anything. You must first recognize that perfection is an imaginary fantasy that exists only in your mind.
Third, you feel a lot of pressure to do it.
The more you want to succeed, the higher the pressure you feel. Most of the burden you carry is something you made yourself, not someone else. If you accept your limits, do your best as much as you can, and are satisfied with the results, you can do everything without feeling burdened. Then the fear of failure disappears.
As a result, we can see that laziness and procrastination come from the mind. If you find the cause of your mind and remove it, your behavior will change automatically. After I let go of the thoughts that filled my head, the compulsion to be perfect, and the burden on my shoulders, I became a person of action more than anyone else.
People sometimes ask me How can I be so motivated and ‘just do it’? With fewer unnecessary thoughts, you have a light body ready to act. Remember , your body and mind are one! When you empty your mind, your body also becomes lighter and you can just do it!!!
